3 Simple Tips for Better Facebook Posts

Posted on Sep 9, 2015

You don’t have to be a social marketing expert to get more engagement for your corporate page on Facebook.

Three simple changes can make a world of difference:

  1. Post when people are most likely to find you
  2. Keep it short and sweet
  3. Have a plan

The Right Thing At the Wrong Time Is the Wrong Thing

As it turns out, we’re not all on social media every minute of the day. For every social media platform, there are days and times where you’re more likely to find your audience online.

For Facebook, the best days to post are:

Facebook calendar

And the best times to post are:

1pm : most Shares

3pm: most Clicks

Be Brief, Be Brilliant, Be Gone

It’s simple: Facebook users are checking-in at work. The last thing they want is 10 dense paragraphs of text. Your audience is more likely to engage if you offer them clear, succinct posts.

And, since a picture is worth a thousand words, use photos and (short!) video to drive even better engagement.

Fortune Favors the Prepared

One o’clock on a Thursday is not the time to decide what to post. Have a plan!

Step 1: Write down 3-5 themes that your audience enjoys and are relevant to your brand.

Step 2: Once a month, sit down with a calendar and schedule specific post topics for that month based on the 3-5 themes you identified in Step 1.

Putting your audience first will help keep your posts relevant.

Creating an  editorial calendar will help you avoid scrambling for “the post of the day”.

Two Parting Thoughts

Be spontaneous, every so often. If you have something important to share on a Tuesday, for heaven’s sake – don’t sit on it until Thursday! Post on Tuesday when it’s fresh and your excitement comes through. Then, repost and update later in the week when engagement is likely to be at its peak.
